碩士 === 東吳大學 === 社會學系 === 99 === Abstract People tend to be long-lived because of technological and medical progress, and we may not get along with the other half forever. Furthermore, with the social changes, the couples may not always live together, or people just are single. However, the elders want the other half. The study is to find that causes and the development of marriage and lifestyle. The qualitative research study of narrative analysis took purposive sampling method to interview 8 above 65 years old people who got married or remarried. To analysis the motivation, the development of marriage, and lifestyle. And the results are as follows: 1.The motives of the elders choosing the other halves are influenced by life courses. Individual, era, life events, societies and other factors may influence the elders choose the other halves. Those who are widowed early, divorced, or unmarried may want to be looked after, to be accompanied, to get financial assistance, or to be encouraged by relatives and friends. 2.The financial factors will influence the development of twilight romance because their close relationship are developed from sharing resources and financial aid. And there are 4 kinds of intimate relationship: gratitude, trust, self-benefit, and isolation. 3.The lifestyle of the marriage of twilight romance In this study, the data analysis showed that there are 4 kinds of lifestyle of the marriage of twilight romance-warm and attached type, happy and housebound type, rational and independent type, and real and lonely type from their intimacy, interaction, life experience and life attitude.
