The purposes of this research are to discuss the current situation of school children’s leisure participation and their life adaptation, and to understand how demographic variables (i.e., grades, gender, birth order, social economic status, and parenting style) interplayed with their leisure participation and adaptation.
This research used “Children’s Leisure Participation Scale” and “Children’s Life Adaptation Scale” as the study instrument. The sample of this study came from 534 fifth and sixth graders in one public elementary school in Taoyuan County.
The results of this study are as follows:
1.The background of school children’s influences their leisure participation.
2.There are different types of school children’s leisure participation.
3.The better the school children adapt to their lives, the more frequently they participate leisure activities.
4.School children who participate in social leisure activities more frequently perform the best in their life adaptation.
