Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 管理學院MBA === 99 === Performance evaluation is a common practice in business organization setting. In the other hand, many problems could appear when performance evaluation was conducted in university setting. The current study derived performance indicators for the evaluation of teaching, research, and service for University professors. These performance indicators could be quite different from the indicators suggested by the evaluation committee that is composed by the University professors. All the faculty members’ performance will be evaluated based on these suggested indicators. The difference in chosen indicators revealed some important issues in performance evaluation, e.g. the chosen performance indicators themselves and the way these performance indicators were determined. Our first finding shows that the bottom-up approach is more realistic than those set at evaluation committee since they are more flexible and reflect to the current university goals. Other finding also shows that the relative amount of time that faculty members devoted themselves to each role can vary overtime. However synergy between each indicator and roles can help to determine a successful assessment program. We expect this research can help evaluation committee to have clear idea in determining the indicators for evaluating faculty performance. On the other hand, we also expect that faculty member will be able to regularly plan and evaluate their work for periodically assessment program.
