The table is modeled as a 3 DOF rigid body isolated with the ground by springs and MR dampers. The studies begin with theoretical derivation of EOM’s with steady and transient disturbances. The steady disturbance is divided into three regions according its frequencies and in each region the MR switching on/off rule is set separately. Basically the response will be deteriorated by switching on MR if the disturbance frequency falls above the times of the systems natural frequency. This deterioration is defined as δand 2δ is used to judge for MR on/off. At last numerical example of various steady and transient disturbances are illustrated and the results show that MR damping in conjunction with appropriate on/off rule defined by the research indeed provides better isolation effect for precision table.
