The research locations were the Guanghua and Guangrong neighborhoods in Zhongxing New Village. Researchers observed, recorded, surveyed, and interviewed local residents and tourists. This research was divided into three parts. The first part comprised an analysis of feelings on environmental quality – degree of satisfaction. Researchers used sensory perception to understand the satisfaction of users with the environmental quality of ZhongXing New Village. The second part comprised an analysis of feelings on environmental factors - degree of emphasis. The purpose of this analysis was to understand what spatial fields impressed users. The third part comprised an analysis of feelings on environmental factors - degree of emphasis. The purpose of this analysis was to understand the preferences of users regarding elements of visual landscape. Researchers analyzed these three categories in light of differences in the characteristics and demographics of users. Based on the results of this research, our conclusions were as follows: 1. Differences in user characteristics and demographics indicated difference in feelings on environmental quality - degree of satisfaction. Individual feelings on road accessibility, environmental health, green space, architectural and urban planning of space, pace of life, and emotional attachment showed significant differences, which influenced evaluation of overall degree of satisfaction. Indicators of degree of satisfaction with commercial facilities and maintenance showed an outcome of “low satisfaction”. This indicated that users had a lower degree of acceptance of damage to or aging of facilities. 2. Differences in user characteristics and demographics implied differences in what spatial fields impressed users. Gender, age, occupation, length of residence, and sightseeing frequency caused significant differences in this area. 3. Differences in user characteristics and demographics implied differences in the preferences of users regarding elements of visual landscape. Apart from gender, the factors of age, level of education, occupation, length of residence, and sightseeing frequency demonstrated significant difference. 4. Impressive spatial fields emphasized by users in Zhongxing New Village are listed in descending degree of emphasis as follows: Yelin Boulevard, Qingqing Park, Zhongxing Hall, Zhongxing Sports Staidum, and Guanghua Children’s Park. Important visual landscape elements in the environment of Zhongxing New Village are listed in descending order of emphasis as follows: Plants and roadside trees, grass areas, the external appearance of buildings, roof tiles, brick walls, enclosing walls, and asphalt roads. The degree of emphasis placed by residents on these elements exceeded that of tourists. Wei-I Lee 李威儀 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 122 zh-TW
