As the proverb goes “Filial piety is the first, compared with other good deeds.” The dead is the greatest and we take them most seriously and respect them even more than the living. “You don’t have to necessarily go to one’s marriage celebration, but you must go for his funeral.” What is described about proves how much Chinese care about the funeral. Recently, environmentally-friendly burials have been generally accepted by most of the people around the world, and so have in Taiwan in a couple of years. How have they affected Taiwan? Will it greatly influence any Chinese traditional decorum or customs? Let’s wait and discover the answer.
