Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 中國音樂學系 === 99 === Jing's Monochord is a single-string musical instrument in China. It is mainly used in the Jing’s national minority society. In Vietnam, the same single-string musical instrument called “đàn bầu” is regarded as the Vietnamese important nationality musical instrument. The music of Jing's Monochord is so unique, mysterious and attracting, so the author wants to find out how it works.
There are many discrepant sayings about the origins of Jing’s Monochord. The first purpose of this thesis is to make a systematic study about the origin of Jing's Monochord. The second purpose is to get all the alias of Monochords or other one-string (single-string) musical instruments together and to tell and categorize them, so that Jing’s Monochord can be distinguished from other one-string musical instruments. The third purpose is to look into the structure of Jing’s Monochord and to know how it makes mysterious and moving sounds. The last purpose is to study the music, musicians and the past and future of Jing’s Monochord, etc.
The conclusion is Jing’s Monochord was come from Vietnam during middle or the last years in Ching Dynasty. It lacks of evidence that Jing’s Monochord has any relationship with Chinese ancient single-string musical instruments recorded in historical books. Due to the efforts of some musicians in Chinese Guangxi, Jing’s Monochord has developed its own musical contents.
