Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 應用媒體藝術研究所 === 99 === In recent years, the land of Taiwan had suffered natural disasters, such as heavy flood, and confronted the critical period of the severe epidemic spreading. When I was in my college, as I remembered, the 921 earth quake suddenly damaged Jiji in central Taiwan, and the SARS outbroke at the year I graduated. Moreover, since engaging in the job as a journalist, the natural-disaster related issues are never strange to us while around the earth do the catastrophes come about because of the abnormal climate changes. The situation of raising dust in Yunlin appeared in my mind when I consider how a media worker can devote herself to present the messages of the abnormal climate changes in Taiwan. Isn’t that an obvious and available example of climate changes around you and me when the residents and farmers by the Zhuoshuixi river are unavoidably subjected to the influence of local sand storm. Therefore, I made my mind that I should dedicate myself to completing the documentary of weather for Taiwan. It was not that simple as expected in the progress of filming. Beside the weather, I would like to figure out the feeling the residents might have as facing such a specific phenomenon. Hence, the “paople” factor was also included into the taking, to alter the one-way filming style by just saying the causes of abnormal climate change. In fact, it involves diverse aspects, for instance, the health problem of nearby residents, the livelihood of the farmers by the sands, the construction of the Jiji weir and so on. The local people are used to the blowing sands by Zhuoshuixi river in Yunlin which has been existing for more than a century. However, recently this natural activity seems to be worse and worse. What kind of mood and attitude do the inhabitants possess? Through camera, we hope to lead common people to come into the same circumstances for feeling the unusual weather condition and experiencing the response to it from the locals, scholars and the related authorities.
