Starting from the successional observations about space reconstructions and relationships between hosts and visitors, the three main analytic treatises are: 1. making a living and life, 2. practicing of space re-creation, and 3. value system and ideology, the analysis reveals the causes of an emerging social network. The flowing relationship and identity result from interaction back and forth between hosts and visitors. Since the development of home-stay inns in Taiwan from the 1990s’ untill now, it is no lomger sufficent to discuss only the theme in rest and comsumption domains. The “sense-of-living home-stay” is not only a way of making a living, but it is also a greatly practical paragon of searching for the ideal life. Hosts and visitors interact frequently and profoundly in discussing practices and identity to the way of living and space making. This social network composed of the effects between links and diaspora has been developing; and the internet platform has affected the form of this social network. On the other hand, the survey of “sense-of-living home-stay” self-reliant re-creation exhibits demands, for dwelling and living, including “sense of living”, “authenticity”, and “green reuse.” Due to the different abilities the hosts possess, multiform home-stay spaces are seen as alternative models. These models that concern the interaction between old spaces and new behaviors, which are called “palimpsest” in this essay, can be a kind of consultation when people make their home spaces. John K.
