The purpose of this research is to understand the sense of life meaning among senior grade students in elementary school and to explore the differences between these in terms of individual background and environmental experiences variables. This research takes New Taipei city San-Zhi district as an example. There are 396 samples by purposive sampling method. A questionnaire Meaning of Life Scale, developed by researcher, on elementary school student is used as an instrument.
The main findings are as follows:
The mean of “Meaning of Life Scale” is 3.87 and it shows that the sense of life meaning of samples tends to be positive. The highest score is in “Responsibility and Self-decision Sub-Scale” and “Pain and Difficulty Sufferance Sub-Scale.” The lowest score is in “Existential Sense Sub-Scale.”
The meaning of life for participants in total scale is statistically significant according to their religious belief, the education way of main watcher, academic achievement, the interpersonal relationship. Part of scale is statistically significant according to their gender, birth order, parents’ marriage, contacting with death experience on relatives.
Based on the results, the research also proposes some suggestions for parents, school teachers, the related organization, and future study.
