The Study of New-Immigrant and Local Children upon Mathematics Achievement from Culture Capital Standpoint

碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 教育經營與管理學系 === 99 === The main purposes of this study were to identify the relationship of junior high school New-Immigrant and native students’ culture capital and mathematics achievement, and to examine the different level of culture capital and mathematics achievement of these students among diverse backgrounds. As a result of purposeful sampling from junior high school students in yilan city, there were 645 valid samples included 317 New-Immigrant childrens and 328 native childrens for this study. The collected data were analyzed by Descriptive Statistics, Two-way ANOVA and multiple stepwise regression analysis. The conclusions of the study were as follows: (1) Junior high school students in yilan city had below average level of culture capital. (2) Junior high school students in yilan city had below average level of mathematics achievement. (3) New-Immigrant childrens had lower level of almost all aspects of culture capital significantly than the native childrens in yilan city. (4) New-Immigrant childrens generally had lower level of mathematics achievement significantly than the native childrens in yilan city. (5) Junior high school students could get higher level in mathematics achievement, as their culture capital were higher. According to the results and conclusions of this study, some suggestions were offered as references for the members in the educational administrative correlated organizations, schools, parents, and studies in the future.
