The adopted questionnaires “Principal leadership orientation and conflict management effectiveness” surveyed 42 elementary schools in Taipei city. From those collected 616 questionnaires, 504 samples are valid with applicable rate of 90.9%. Data of this survey was analyzed by t-tests, One Way ANOVA, Pearson Product-moment correlation, regression model and etc. The results of this study were as follows: 1.Male teachers can percept more principal leadership orientation and the conflict management effectiveness than female teachers. 2.Elementary school teachers have positive affirmation for conflict Management effectiveness, especially on “Reduce differences and enhance understanding” 3.Different scales of school showed significant variability in both principal leadership orientation and the effect of conflict management. 4.There were significant positive correlations in principal leadership orientation and conflict management effectiveness 5.“Conflict management effectiveness” and other results can be predicted by “Principal Leadership Orientation”, especially on “contingent reward”. Based on the research results, this study makes out the suggestions: 1.More educational resources should be provided to principals. 2.Scale of schools should be reduced in order to improve conflict management . 3.Principals should adopt “contingent reward” strategy to promote conflict management effectiveness 4.Principals should care about every teachers at school, encourage the participation in school 5.The variables “contingent promises” and “passive management –by – exception” should be applied again in the future studies. 6.The variations of principals’ gender should be adopted in future studies.
