Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士班 === 99 === This thesis aimed to understand the parents’ view on gifted and talented education in the elementary schools of Taipei City. The surveyed objects were to explore the parents’ view on gifted education in four dimensions: (1) the policy and objective of gifted education (2) identification and placement (3) education execution (4) the expectation and viewpoint of society, and the difference of parents thought between gifted class and regular class. The influence of parents’ thought under different background was also explored.
The objects of this research were the parents of primary schools where regular gifted classes were located in Taipei City. The survey was research method, and valid samples were analyzed and discussed by mean value, standard deviation, percentages and t test. The major results in this thesis were as follows:
1. The major parents supported the gifted education. The scores order of four dimensions from high to low were “identification and placement”, “education execution”, “the expectation and viewpoint of society” then “the policy and objective of gifted education”.
2. Gifted classes’ parents also supported the gifted education. And the scores order of four dimensions from high to low were “identification and placement”, “education execution”, “the policy and objective of gifted education” then “the expectation and viewpoint of society”.
3. Gifted classes’ parents supported the gifted education than regular classes’ parents. The scores of gifted classes’ parents were higher in all four dimensions than regular classes’ parents.
4. The support differences of gifted education between gifted classes’ parent and regular classes’ parent were reaching to apparently level. The dimensions with support differences reaching apparently level were “the policy and objective of gifted education”, “education execution” and “the expectation and viewpoint of society”. The dimension with support differences not reaching apparently level was “identification and placement” dimension.
5. The parents’ view on gifted education showed no difference by gender and age of parents, but showed different by “education level” and “the satisfy level of the children’ whole performance in school” factors.
Practical suggestions for the authorities, administrators, teachers and future researchers will be provided based on the findings.
