碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 社會與區域發展學系碩士班 === 99 === The height is not only the major preference of mate selection but also the key resources of mate selection, which has influenced the chance of mate selection between bisexual relationship. This paper is to conduct a research of Case One by focusing on the simulated objects of mate selection respectively from young men aged 23 and elder men aged 31 with the same height through the searchable and sorting characteristic of MSN dating & friendship website. The method of research is to establish the “Sampling Community” on the principle of “Equal Opportunity of Population” via a sampling from the different distribution of height of Taiwan population and to assess the influence of age difference on the height suitable pool of male mate selection and the chance of mate selection via the assessment method of “Suitable Pool”(2004, 2007) developed by the domestic scholar Chang, Jung-Fu. In addition, this research is further to analyse the “Sampling Community” for finding out the thresholds of age preference and height preference from the said two sampling communities and the influence of the said thresholds on the chance of mate selection of simulated male objects of mate selection. Based on the height preference between bisexual relationship discovered from research findings by Chen, Tsung-Chun (2009) and the threshold of male age preference by Tang, Yu-Chan (2007), the Case One is to administer a “Suitable Pool” simulation of mutual selection for pairing aiming at the simulated objects of mate selection respectively from young men aged 23 and elder men aged 31 in order to figure out the suitable pool of height from the said two sampling communities representing the chance of mate selection. The research findings are shown below: In the group of the same height, the number of person of the suitable pool from elder men is more than that from young men, that is, the community of men aged 31 holds a higher chance of mate selection. In sampling community, the threshold of height preference is the key factor of influencing women’s chance of mate selection. The narrow height threshold required by the Sampling Community One (young women) has caused a decreasing number of person of the suitable pool from young men; and the wider height threshold required by the Sampling Community Two (elder women) has benefited the increasing number of person of the suitable pool from elder men, which proves that the influence of age difference on the height suitable pool of male mate selection and the chance of mate selection.
