The main purpose of this study was to apply reciprocal teaching and situational experience activities and find out the effects toward eight fourth-grade elementary students in reading popular science books.In this study, we carry out reciprocal teaching in the teaching of reading popular science books and design outdoor exploration activities to help students to experience a similar environment the characters in the story had interacted. This is an action research. The data included notes on teach reflection, teaching journals, recording, video taping and interviewing the students and their parents. Based on the data , the research was adjusted accordingly.The main findings of this research are presented as follows: 1) Creative-thinking may extend the ability and imagination of reading. 2) Reciprocal teaching helps the fourth-grade elementary students to acquaints with the content of the reading material. Moreover, it provides the opportunities to discuss, analyze and share the joy of reading the story. It also helps students keep up with the development and trends of the story, enhance the pleasure of reading and foster good reading habits. 3) Situational experience activities can enhance the effects of reading comprehension. 4) Integral creation may agitate the learning potential of student. Role models may change their personality and self-image.
