The study explores and discusses the improvement method of harmonic distortion. Lungmen Power Plant is designed to use the Advanced Boiling Water Reactor Nuclear Units made by GE Inc. of U.S. to drive the power generator. The ASD for RIP is one of the most important equipments in Lungmen Power Plant and is installed in the bottom of reactor with ten RIPs. The function of ASD is to control the output power of the Reactor. And the ASD has the characteristic of Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF). The ASD are composes of the input/output transformer, three-phase rectifier, LC filter and the three-phase inverter. The operation functions of ASD include rectifying, voltage transforming, filtering, voltage inverting. Throughout the ASD, the purpose of VVVF is achieved. This study uses PSPICE simulation software to establish the model of ASD and to simulate its operation feature. Many ways to improve the harmonic distortion are utilized in this study, such as increasing the number of pulse rectifier, adding the reactor or filter, using Pulse Width Modulation technique. With the results of simulation, this study finds out the method to eliminate harmonic in both voltage and current and provides some suggestions about the topic. Using the simulation model, the engineers can understand the approximately real operation situation of the equipments and relationship between equipments and simulation model.
