Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 航運管理學系 === 99 === This thesis investigates the operational performance of listed cotton spining companies in Tawain with data envelopment analysis and Malmquist index. The supply chain in textile industry consists of the upstream, midstream and downstream; and up to December 2010, there are 46 companies in total listed. To compare the performance of similar companies, eight major listed companies in the midstream of the cotton spinning industry are selected as research entities. Data envelopment analysis and Malmquist productivity index (MPI) are employed to analyze the performance and inter-temporal performance of the selected companies. Based on the annual financial reports from MOPS from year 2005 to year 2009, the thesis explores their relative performance and the performance changes over time. Four financial variables are selected: ‘number of employees’, ‘total assets’ and ‘operating costs’ are used as input variables and “revenue” is used as output variable. The results are further analized and suggestions are made for their improvement. Key Words:Cotton spinning industry, Data Envelopment Analysis, Malmquist, CCR
