The samples comprised 598 students including national and private colleges in Taiwan. “ Filial Responsibility Scale” and “Self-esteem Scale” were the instruments used in this study, and the obtained data set were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and multiple hierarchical regression. The main findings are as follows: 1.There is no significant correlation between filial caregiving and self-esteem. 2.There is a positive significant correlation between perceived fairness and self-esteem, which means that the more the college students perceived their families to be fair, the higher self-esteem they reported. 3.Perceived fairness is not significantly moderate the relationship between filial caregiveing ahd self-esteem. Both caregiving and perceived fairness independently contribute to the variance in self-esteem. Furthermore, perceived fairness accounts for much more variance in self-esteem than caregiving. Finally, based on the results, implications of the study for counseling and parent education as well as suggestions for future research are proposed. Wu Li-Chuan 吳麗娟 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 79 zh-TW
