Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 美術學系 === 99 === This research for creation is aimed at discussing my personal creations -“Disqualifed-Image of Decaying”, which derived from and divert the thoughts of perversion of the society and the feeling of distance about the decaying flesh. I start from existentialist Arthur Shopenhauer’s perspective of life and Symbolist concept of life and death to narrate the image of vivid and decaying flesh. Relying on the connotation of grey, I contemplate the flesh and depict the course of life becoming death. By using realistic skills, I try to sublimate decaying and death to art creation and go further to appreciate the value of life. Framework of this thesis: there are five parts abstracted as follows:
First Chapter is Preface: the Introduction of research intention, purpose of this thesis, and definitions of terms. In the paste, I happened to see the course of life turning death of my family and other people and this brings some pessimistic emotions. The spirit of decaying course of life is the same as the implication of still life painting. These implications inspire me to probe the meaning of life and existence. Altogether with the term of “Disqualified”, these implications inspire me to create art works bearing the image of decaying life and give out an exit for pessimistic emotions.
Chapter two is the foundation theory of my creation. Theories of Aesthetics effect my analysis and illustration about my creative works and in turns, my works creative works connote the theories in it. My creation is based on analyzing Arthur Shopenhauer’s perspective of life and Symbolist concept of life and death. By internalizing the two basic theory, I can present my creation more concretely in the academic context.
Chapter Three is my philosophy of creation. In this chapter, I will illustrate my perspective of creation. My perspective of creation is focus on features of grey, symbolic connotation of flesh, and the insight of gaze. These features presents my thoughts, spirits, and course of my creation.
Chapter Four is about context, form, skills, and media. My context is about insight of decaying and the projection of my emotions on objects. I create oil paintings with realistic from. In this part, I record, illustrate how and what I use to made my creative works. By material processing, I try to reach the emotional thoughts.
Chapter Five is analyzing the objects of my creative works. I chose squash, tree trunk, fish, meat, and flies. All of them can connote the image of live flesh. By features of gray and realistic skills, I present the thoughts of disqualification that relates to the feelings of the illness society and dying lives. I depict different objects to show the same atmosphere of dying.
