Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 台灣文化研究所碩士班 === 99 === ABSTRACT Lineage, known as a group of blood relationship, is an epitome of traditional lives. Living in peace and enjoying their work are the basic hope for human beings. In addition, “being well-established” would be a wish for a Lineage to be spread. As we know, the posthumous name of the founding ancestor would not only become a totem to represent a whole lineage but also become a symbol to represent a lineage to develop their works. After the migration, the founding ancestor planned to expand the family all the time, and then, after the success of expanding the family, the ancestor wished the following generations to accomplish success and fame. The major goal is to make the lineage have sustainable development. Furthermore, the following generations have benefits—the legacy. Then, the memorial tablet of founding ancestor could enjoy the merits and virtues which the following generations sacrifice. The Weng Lineage, from An Xi Ke Ban, is a lineage organization which the lineage with cousin system organized. Those ancestors and Dong Gong Zhen Ren came through the “ditch” and then arrived at Taiwan. After 300 years’ hard working, finally, they became the distinguished family in Yi-jhu Township. However, this is a developmental history without family heritage, and a developmental history of this settlement which will be forgotten in the future. The Weng Lineage of Yi-jhu using Tang-shan ancestor as the symbol of this lineage set up the ancestor worship, and continued the ceremony of using lemongrass for 300 years. Through 300-year change, Dong Gong Zhen Ren originally was worshiped in the ancestral hall but now becomes the local temple. In addition, the accent was changed from Quanzhou accent to Changchou accent. Moreover, traditional three-section compound settlement is destroyed and is substituted by modern buildings. Also, with the integration of other religions, The Weng Lineage of Yi-jhu becomes a lineage of multiple religion beliefs. Thus, Dong Gong Zhen Ren would not be the only belief in this lineage. Furthermore, economics, education, and customs are changes with times. As a result, based on the above discussions, the purpose of this study is to investigate the developing process of The Weng Lineage of Yi-jhu in Taiwan.
