The main purposes are as the following: 1. To investigate the present situation of Principals’ Paternalistic Leadership、School Knowledge Management and School Effectiveness in elementary schools. 2. To explore the relationship on Principal’s Paternalistic Leadership and School Knowledge Management in elementary school. 3. To explore the relationship on Principal’s Paternalistic Leadership and School Effectiveness in elementary school. 4. To explore the relationship on School Knowledge Management and School Effectiveness in elementary school. 5. To explore the relationship between Paternalistic Leadership and School Effectiveness, have a mediating effect by School Knowledge Management. To achieve the goals above, questionnaire survey method is adapted. The researcher got the samples as the population from the teachers of the public elementary schools in Taiwan by stratified random which are 214 public elementary schools included and 1009 samples are effective among 1090 teachers and the rate of retrieve is 92.56%. In addition to some personal basic information, three scales are used in the study as well, including Principals’ Paternalistic Leadership scale, School Knowledge Management scale and School Effectiveness scale. Analytic data are rendered in some ways, including descriptive statistics, item analysis and factor analysis to test the reliability and validity, the study uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test structural model and analyze the relationship among these variables. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Principals’ Paternalistic Leadership, School Knowledge Management and school effectiveness performance are in good condition. (1) The Principals’ Paternalistic Leadership in elementary schools perform well in all aspects, especially Benevolent Leadership. (2)School Knowledge Management in elementary schools perform well in all aspects, especially Knowledge Sharing. (3)School Effectiveness in elementary schools perform well in all aspects, especially Teaching Effectiveness of teachers. 2. Paternalistic leadership was positively significant on school knowledge management. 3. Paternalistic leadership was positively significant on school effectiveness. 4. School knowledge management was positively significant on school effectiveness. 5. The pattern among Principals’ Paternalistic Leadership, School Knowledge Management and School Effectiveness is supported by Structural Equation Modeling. It can explain the relationships of the above two main variables. The results show that the influence of Principals’ Paternalistic Leadership, School Knowledge Management on School Effectiveness is evident. Further more, School Knowledge Management have a mediating effect on the relationship between Paternalistic Leadership and School Effectiveness. Based on the purposes of the research, literature review, and data analysis results, some suggestion are offered for principals and teachers in elementary schools, and help them for future research papers.
