Specifically, the goals of this study were three fold: (1) to describe parents’ attitudes of enhancing self-determination towards their children on four domains: self-realization, psychological empowerment, autonomy and self-regulation; (2) to examine whether the parents’ attitudes and practices of enhancing self-determination towards their children vary as a function of family contextual factors; (3) to determine how the parents’ attitudes of enhancing self-determination are related to their self-determination practices. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson product-moment correlation analyses. Findings are as follows. (1) Participants generally held positive attitudes of enhancing self-determination towards their children. (2) Participants’ attitudes of enhancing self-determination towards their children varied as a function of gender and handicapped type of their children, and their experiences of joining social welfare groups. (3) Participants’ practices of enhancing self-determination towards their children varied as a function of their experiences of joining social welfare groups, the handicapped type of their children, SES, family structure, and their getting information about self-determination issues. (4) Participants’ attitudes of enhancing self-determination were positively related to their self-determination practices. Based on those findings, suggestions for educational administrations, school teachers and parents were proposed. none 林慶仁 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 150 zh-TW
