There is still no final conclusion about his thinking source and the effect of three religions yet. Also, there is not much advanced study of the relationship between Xu-Wei and Buddhism. His Si Sheng Yuan is most well-known masterpiece in the history of drama and song which indicated his opinion toward the Buddhist dharma and doctrine as will. However, if we want to thoroughly probe the relationship between Xu-Wei and Buddhism, it will need to study variously in his poetic, literature, drama ,song and also to prove his life story with literary creations in order to infer his inherited opinion toward Buddhism and the development of thinking trend. This essay is divided into five chapters. In chapter one, the main content focus on the relevant data integration and study the current status between Xu-Wei’s and Buddhism. In chapter two, the predestined relationship between Xu-Wei’s and Buddhism focus on three respects that are the era background,regional Buddhist culture and main teachers, friends , travel by probing Xu-Wei’s life style and living which discussed his civilized Buddhism, Zhejiang Buddhist culture and the teachers & friends’ influence ,daily letter, Q&A, discuss Buddhist concept, poems, lyrics, songs, temple travel and interaction with Buddhism. In chapter three, the main content is to talk about Xu-Wei’s concept of Buddhism. His understanding toward Buddhism, Buddhist scripture and Buddhist theory are analyzed by his life, influence of friends and his studies of Lankavatara Sutra,Diamond Sutra, Lotus Sutra, Sixth patriarch Platform Sutra. The major ideals are that belief of Guan-Yin Bodhisattva, release a captured animal, charity, practice Buddhist, obey doctrine in order to generalize and analyze his opinion toward Buddha-Dharma-Sangha. In chapter four, there are introduction of Xu-Wei’s Buddhist literature. In the first beginning, it discusses that Buddhist “ Chan “ combined with poems, and then “Chan” language, “Chan” theory and “Chan” meaning of poems ,lyrics , songs. Also, it will be mentioned that Buddhist guidance by studying the meaning of “Yuan” in one of the Xu-Wei’s literature works and drama song A Dream of Monk Jade and Sartre and blend with the concept of “Shawn” from Diamond Sutra to create the most dreamy level ”Jin” of the song. Influenced by Buddhism, it introduces the literature, art and aesthetics of “Jean Wuo” first, and then the extension of (Ben-Se Theory) which is one of drama song. Chapter five is the final conclusion. After discussion of the previous four chapters, they are concluded with the predestined relationship and process of Xu-Wei’s and Buddhism, the development of Buddhist concept , feature of his Buddhist literary and the studied achievement of this essay.
