The major topic was homeland, but the contents of textbooks were designed for the whole area of Taiwan. There were no suitable teaching resources for specific local areas, so it generated the problems that textbooks were not appropriate for the local education and the teaching resources were deficiency in local areas. Based on these problems, the researcher considered designing a completed teaching contents in social field for the fourth grade in elementary school in Taichung city. There were four purposes in this study: 1. Understanding the curriculum and ability indicator in the social field of basic national education for elementary and junior high school in Taiwan; 2. Analyzing outlines and details of various versions of textbooks in social field for the third and fourth grade in elementary school; 3. Compiling the teaching resources in social field of the fourth grade in elementary school in Taichung city; 4. Reviewing and revising the teaching resources. This study applied with document analysis, documentary analysis, field study, focus groups, interview and questionnaire to proceed with the preparation of the teaching resources of the social sphere for the fourth-grade in Taichung City. The study concluded that: 1. The basic direction for the preparation of teaching resources was based on the Capacity indicators and syllabus; 2. The preparation of teaching resources should refer to the subject outline of textbook and content breakdown; 3. It was a difficult and time-consuming process but never completely for the preparation of teaching resources; 4. The results of compiled teaching resources canned be represented as a learning manual and briefing; 5. The designed results of compiled teaching resources were approved by teachers and students.
