Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 課程與教學研究所 === 99 === The study aimed to explore the elementary school teachers’ cognition of the marine education and their attitude toward the implementation of the marine education in Changhua County. Also, it compared and contrasted the teachers with different backgrounds whose cognition of the marine education and whose attitude toward the implementation of the marine education. The correlation between the elementary school teachers’ cognition of the marine education and their attitude toward the implementation of the marine education was explored, too.
The method of the study was the questionnaire survey. The subjects were the elementary school teachers in Changhua County. The tool of the study was a self-designed questionnaire “The Study on the Elementary School Teachers’ Cognition of the Marine Education and their Attitude toward the Implementation of the Marine Education.” There were 743 valid questionnaires from 990 questionnaire samples. The return rate was 86.46% and the valid return rate was 75.05%. The results were analyzed statistically by Mean, Standard Deviation, T-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation. The results of this study were concluded as follows.
First, the cognition of the elementary school teachers in Changhua County toward the marine education was beyond the middle level.
Second, the attitude of the elementary school teachers in Changhua County toward the implementation of the marine education was good.
Third, the elementary school teachers in Changhua County with different backgrounds had different levels of cognition of the marine education.
1.There was not a distinct difference on the cognition of the marine education for the elementary school teachers in Changhua County whose educational levels and scales of working places were different.
2.In respect of the gender, male teachers had a better understanding of “the environment of the marine education” than female teachers.
3.As to teaching experiences, teachers having taught for more than 20 years had better cognition of “the content of the marine education in Grade 1-9 Curriculum revised in 2008” than those who have taught for more than 5 years, but less than 10 years.
4.When it comes to the position, directors had better cognition of the marine education than chiefs and homeroom teachers did, and subject teachers also had better cognition of “the curriculum and instruction of the marine education” than the homeroom teachers did.
5.As to the teaching subjects, teachers who taught “Science and Technology” had better cognition of the marine education than those who didn’t teach “Science and Technology”.
6.In respect of the majors in universities, teachers majoring in “departments related to math or science” had better cognition of “the environment of the marine education” than those who did not major in “departments related to math or science.”
7.As to the frequency of joining in the activities related to the marine education this year, those who participated in the activities 3 to 4 times this year had better cognition of “the environment of the marine education,” “the development of the marine education” and “the marine education” than those who didn’t participate in any activities this year.
8.When it comes to joining in the workshops related to the marine education, the teachers who joined in the workshops associated with the marine education had better cognition than those who didn’t join the workshops.
9.As to the locations of the schools, teachers who taught in the seaside townships had better cognition of “the content of the marine education in Grade 1-9 Curriculum revised in 2008” than those who didn’t teach in the seaside townships.
10.Teachers had better cognition of “the environment of the marine education,” “the development of the marine education” and “the marine education” if their workplaces were a member of the team of the marine education in Changhua County in 2010.
Fourth, the elementary school teachers in Changhua County with different backgrounds held different attitudes toward the marine education.
1.The elementary school teachers in Changhua County held a smiliar attitude toward the marine education even though they had different backgrounds including the gender, teaching experiences, teaching subjects, university majors, scales and locations of working places and whether their workplaces were a member of the team of the marine education in Changhua County in 2010 .
2.In respect of the educational levels, teachers whose educational levels were beyond the graduate school had a better attitude toward “the curriculum and instruction of the marine education” than those whose educational levels were teachers’ college or university of education .
3.As to the position, directors had a better attitude toward “the curriculum and instruction of the marine education” than chiefs and homeroom teachers did, and directors also had a better attitude toward “teachers’ beliefs of the marine education” than the homeroom teachers did.
4.When it comes to the frequency of joining in the activities related to the marine education this year, those who participated in the activities 3 to 4 times this year had a better attitude toward “the curriculum and instruction of the marine education,” “teachers’ beliefs of the marine education” and “the marine education” than those who didn’t participate in any activities this year.
5.As to joining in the workshops related to the marine education, the teachers who joined in the workshops associated with the marine education had a better attitude toward “the curriculum and instruction of the marine education,” “teachers’ beliefs of the marine education” and “the marine education” than those who didn’t join the workshops.
Fifth, there was positive correlation between the elementary school teachers’ cognition of the marine education and their attitude toward the implementation of the marine education in Changhua County.
Based on the conclusions mentioned above, some suggestions were proposed as a reference for the educational administration agencies, teacher training institutions, elementary school authorities, and elementary school teachers and following researchers.
