The performing art includes drama and dance. Through the implementation of creative drama in elementary school is able to improve children’s body movement expression as well as their self efficacy. By participating in drama activities children will promote their body movement and in order to improve the skill of self-expression. Through comply these interesting and success experiences in creative drama activities, children then will develop their self-efficacy.
This is an action research. The researcher observes some issues arisen within the education field and plans for appropriate project approach. The process of the entire research follows some different parts that include planning, action, reflection, and modification. By using the methods of measurement form, observation, interview, and document analysis complete this study. Many different types of children’s learning experiences are carefully collected in order to gain more understanding of the improvement. In terms of the reflection and correction, the researcher continually refers to the conversations between teacher and students as well as between the educating participants, and uses it as the reference. To summarize this study:
1. The implementation of creative drama teaching and the reaction of students’ responds are very well.
(1)Creative drama teaching program follows the goals of the syllabus and teaching process. This is able to keep teaching on track of each step clearly.
(2)The curriculum content of creative drama can easily arouse children’s interest.
(3)There are many great students’ feedbacks from the learning process in creative drama program, which many of them wished to continue the curriculum.
2. Creative drama program allows the improvement of children’s body movements.
(1)The curriculum planning of creative drama helps children to develop the ability of body movement expression.
(2)Through body movement in drama play on stage, students learn the ways of body language expressing skills.
3. Creative drama teaching program increases student’s self-efficacy.
4. Teachers are able to resolve the difficulties and problems by reflecting on the drama teaching program.
(1)To smoothly carry out the teaching program will need more incorporation of time management and flexibility on teaching process.
(2)To improve the teaching result by having the assistance from appropriate equipments, providing examples, and reviewing the learning experiences.
(3)To increase students’ participations by having small group activity and modifying the content of worming-up activities.
(4)The reflection and correction on the learning environment order, the spatial dynamic management, and the strange smell on the floor is able to improve the difficult teaching situation.
5. By implementing creative drama teaching program can also develop the professional knowledge for the researcher in terms of her teaching skills on performing art.
(1)Teachers are able to practice the curriculum of performing art as well as develop the professional knowledge through teaching process and action research.
(2)In creative drama activity program planning, teachers should consider the teenager students’ mental and psychological state.
(3)This teaching program can closely develop the positive relationship between teacher and students.
(4)The in-class observations and professional conversations during this action research can help teachers to realize and correct their weakness, in order to improve the teaching skills.
Finally, there are a few suggestions followed by the conclusion according to this research. It might provide teachers some ideas on creative drama teaching program as well as for other research reference.
