Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 資訊管理系所 === 99 === The efficacy of the packet-level forward error correction (FEC) coding for mobile media streaming is dominated by many factors, such as the channel’s packet loss characteristics, the FEC coder’s size, code rate, interleaving policy and buffer constraint. There is an urgent need for a simple methodology which allows end systems to promptly react to such complicate system dynamics and optimize the FEC efficacy. In this paper, we propose a strategic approach to this problem. Basically, we first describe an analytical framework of finding the optimal interleaving instance which intends to alleviate the correlation of the packet losses for a given network condition. Based on this optimal interleaving instance, we are able to derive a simple but close estimation of the effective packet loss rate. Finally, we utilize this formulation to device a procedure which tunes the system parameters toward maximizing the FEC code rate subject to an application-specific target packet loss rate. The simulation result confirms that our analytical approach provides a relative close approximation to the theoretical bound.
