Rather than just a routine, this paper is composed with a view to serving as the very record of the important events in my teaching career. To reflect that experience of being a homeroom teacher for nearly twenty years, class management is chosen as the theme of this paper after thorough consideration. As I often ask myself, “What kind of meaning do the roles I play in every stage of life bring to me?”, the answer would only be revealed when I calm down and re-exam this path carefully; only then a deeper comprehension of life will be attained from realizing what I have done and what I have just gone through. After all, “Footprints in the sand show where one has been.” In terms of “narrative study”, this paper will focus on my background, the process of learning through teaching, and the experience learned from being a homeroom teacher for twenty years. The knowledge of education is easy to learn from books while teaching techniques are not; the latter has to be accumulated through time. Therefore, the challenge of teaching at school is a well-known fact at the same time indisputable. From my experience, the effect of classroom management is closely related to a teacher’s belief and his or her practical experience in classroom settings. Through the narration of my belief-forming journey as a teacher as well as the accumulation of practical teaching experiences, a conclusion has been formed: the key to successful classroom management lies in the teacher’s beliefs. In my study, the best beliefs concluded from my experience are as follows: First, learning from mistakes is the panacea to a homesroom teacher. Second, the training of mind can make up for a teacher’s wrongs. Third, “love” is the universal doctrine a teacher should follow. Jing-Wen Huang 黃靖文 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 105 zh-TW
