Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 資訊科學系 === 99 === The purpose of the study was to investigate the variation of high-order thinking ability of sixth graders after applying Lego Mindstorms NXT robot programming learning and the difference of high-order thinking ability among students with different learning styles. The ultimate objectives of this research were to improve teaching strategies and provide reference for related researches in the future. The subjects were students from six classes on sixth grade in Sanmin District of Kaohsiung City. Experimental research method was adopted and the Lego Mindstorms NXT kit was used as teaching tools in the study. Two of the six classes were randomly chosen as experimental group, the other two of the remaining four classes also randomly chosen as control group. The experimental group was applied with Lego Mindstorms NXT robot programming learning, while the control group was receiving computer courses without programming teaching. The instruments of the study included Raven''s Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM), Test of Problem Solving, Williams Creative Assessment Packet, Kolb’s Learning Styles Inventory (LSI). The data were analyzed by utilizing descriptive statistics, t-test, and two-way ANOVA. The findings were as follows: 1. Lego Mindstorms robot programming learning had significant positive effect on logical reasoning ability, problem solving ability and one sub-item of Creativity-Originality. 2. No significant mutual influences between applied or not applied Lego Mindstorms NXT robot programming learning and different Kolb’s learning styles were detected for the sixth graders on the performance of logical reasoning ability, problem solving ability and creativity. 3. There was no significant difference in logical reasoning ability, problem solving ability and creativity between different Kolb Learning Styles sixth graders who were applied Lego Mindstorms NXT robot programming learning. 4. With regard to teaching activities, most of the students had positive responses to the teacher''s teaching, their own learning and the curriculum contents. According to the above results, this research proposes advices for the present computer education in the elementary school and for further studies of related fields.
