Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 心理輔導教育研究所 === 99 === The confidentiality principle is one of the important ethic rules which maintain counseling relationship and professional image. This subject is a controversial issue in the adolescent counseling. According to the serious situation of self-injury day by day, the confidentiality principle influences the counselors thinking about the ethic in the adolescent counseling. This research interviewed the counselors who work with self-injury adolescents and discussed the process of counseling and introspection. The research questions are: first, how do the counselors facing the self-injury adolescents think about the confidentiality principle? Second, after having some practical work experiences how do the counselors think the ethic education?
The results showed when the counselors dealt with self-injury adolescents as their clients, they needed to understand the limitations which the adolescents were facing in the systems such as their families or school lives. The controversial specialized ethics in counseling elicited the counselors’ introspections as well. Furthermore, they tried to transform obstacles into benefits in counseling system and believed the possibility of future. About the ethic education, those counselors who participated in this research thought their practical work experiences as more beneficial than what they have learned in school. They also considered the flexible thinking and the self-examination as great contributions to learn specialized ethics. Finally, according to the research results, the researcher presented some suggestions.
