Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 幼兒教育學系 === 99 === The purpose of this research is to present the process of the implement of “The Whole Language” in kindergarten, and the solutions to the related problems. The qualitative research was conducted and the following methods were used for data collection: Literature review, teaching plan, observation record, questionnaire survey, children’s work, and portfolio. The conclusion, analysis, comparison, and discussion are all based on these related data and variety of information. The results are as below:
A. The Implement of “The Whole Language”
It included four aspects: a) the preparation, b) the environment design and arrangement, c) the activity design, and d) the analysis of parents’ opinions. The researcher adjusted her strategies constantly and consequently through teaching reflection, observation of children, and discussion with teachers as well as parents.
B. The Difficulties and Solutions
Although teachers’ professional knowledge and abilities need to be improved and parents’ beliefs need to be changed, they and their children were all benefited from this study. The researcher encouraged teachers to attend more seminars and invited professors to give them in-service training to promote their professional abilities. Several conferences and children’s works exhibitions were arranged especially for parents to understand the meaningful learning of “The Whole Language.”
Some suggestions were proposed. Besides, the researcher appealed to our educational administrators and other people for more attention and concern for “The Whole Language” applied in early childhood education.
