A scale also developed by Prof. Guo was applied to examine the items of knowledge, health belief, self-efficacy, and physical function of the elderly in fall prevention. The subjects of this study were 380 community seniors who were selected through the purposive sampling in 13 townships of Nantou County. The intervention program for falls prevention contains 18-week sections. To assess the knowledge of preventing falls, health beliefs, self efficacy, and physical functions after the intervention, all subjects were asked to answer a follow-up questionnaire 12 weeks after the intervention program. The results indicated that the knowledge (p<.05), health belief (p<.05), self-efficacy (p<.05), and muscle strength of left lower limbs (p<.05) were significantly increased after intervention. Besides, the reaction speed, muscle strength of lower limbs, and left hand grasp (p<.05) were also improved significantly. These results of the study could be served as useful references to related promotion program for the fall prevention designs for community elderly in the future.
