Hearing is a critical ability for the development of children’s languages and speech. Identifying the children’s hearing impairment before 3 months and wearing the intervention with hearing aids fitting before 6 months can make the children who is hearing impaired as normal as the children with normal hearing. The hearing screening for the newborn in Taiwan has begun since 1998, and we want to know the effect if UNHS on the age of identification and intervention of congenital deaf in Taiwan. Materials and Methods:This research got the the total numbers of studied subjects ,263 people, of the start habilitation from 2006,January to 2010,March from Children’s Hearing Foundation. Among which are 114 with newborn hearing screening but 149 of them didn't.Analyze the cases about those who have newborn hearing screening and those who don’t have newborn hearing screening by t-test analysis and see if there is any significant difference among the age of identification, age of hearing aids fitting and age of intervention; analyze if there is any significant difference among age of identification, age of hearing aids fitting and age of intervention from the different areas in Taiwan by one-way ANOVA. Results:In this research, the newborn who have hearing screening, their average age of identification is 8.7 months ; their average age of hearing aids fitting is 12.4 months and their average age of intervention is 18.8 months. The newborn without newborn screening, their average of identification is 27.5 months; the average age of hearing aids fitting is 31.3 months and the average age of intervention is 40.5 months. There are significant differences in the age of identification, hearing aids fitting and intervention between those with and without hearing screening. From the relations among the residency, the age of identification, with hearing aids fitting and the age of intervention, we found that other variances have nothing to do with areas except that there are significant differences from age of identification between the eastern and the western of Taiwan. Conclusions: This research indicates that newborn hearing screening can benefit early identification and intervention of congenital hearing loss and early intervention. In the different areas in Taiwan, the significant differences are only in identification age and it shows that in the western areas, the differences between urban areas and suburban areas are not significant; however, there are significant differences between western and eastern areas. 林鴻清 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW |
