Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 地理學系 === 99 === Based on concept of glaciated valley landsystems that combine geomorphological with sedimentological techniques. The research methods will take great-scale geomorphy interpretations by aerial photos and profile analysis, following to filed investigations that spatial distribution and assemblage of glacial landforms and glacial sediments, and analysis texture and structure characteristic of glacial sediments. Finally, attempt to calculate the ELA, then infer the ages of glaciation from the ELAs. This study’s purpose is to reconstruct the spatial-temporal evolution of late Quaternary glaciation in Mt. Hohuan and Mt. Chilai areas.
The results of research, above 3000m of the Hohuan valley, above 3285m of the Hohuan N. peak and above 3320m of the Moon-pond valley have multiple glacial landforms and glacial sediments, the cirque is the most obvious in here. The ages of glaciation with two stages at late Last Glacial and early Holocene. At late Last Glacial, the ELA at 3320m in the east and the ELA at 3090m in the west. Other at early Holocene, the ELA at 3460m in the east and the ELA probably at 3230m in the west. Because of the topography and climate factor let the ELA show “ELA gradient”.
Furthermore, the glacier retreat process conform with the model of “rapid meltdown” and “retreat and turn” in Mt. Hohuan and Mt. Chilai areas. And, lithology and geological structure play the important role for cirque development. Widespread jointing and well-developed slate, it influence on cirque’s strike and shape strongly, it also probably influence on glacier retreat model.
