The financial situation of the National Health Issurance environment in Taiwan becomes more difficult than before, resulting in a reduction of 273 hospitals (-34.7%) compared to that of 1995. In order to increase the source of income, each hospital has implemented variational medical services or has invested in parking facilities to subsidize the income reduction from the health insurance company. Therefore, this study uses the actual data of parking lots in hospital to understand if they were used efficiently and analyzes what causes the waiting time in order to improve the strategies used, and reduce the waiting time for customers. This indirectly improves the service satisfaction and increases the turnover rate in utilization of parkinglots. The result of this study reveals that the best way to improve hospital parkinglot deployment is through controlling customers’ demand. First, we can reassign customers’ cars to the parkinglots having lower utilization or to on-street / off-street parking, and then transport customers back to the hospital by shuttles. Second, we can improve parking facilities such as parking guidance or automatic payment machines. Improvement in hospital’s management procedure such as using automatic cashier machines and information-based processes can reduce both of cashier and dispensing processing time. It can reduce the amount of time customers stay in the hospital, which in turn, increases the utilization of parking lots. Although this study shows that appropriate adjustment of parking fares can reduce customers’ waiting time, the number of customers using cars to the hospital is reduced as well. Careful adjustment of parking fares according to the number of cars coming to the parkinglots can improve customers’ satisfaction without sacrificing the income from the parkinglots.
