Harmonics, voltage swell, voltage sag, and power interruption could degrade the service quality. The objective of this thesis is to analyze the power harmonic distortion of a shipyard electric power system. Harmonic distortions of different operating equipment installed at the shipyard are measured. A power system simulation package is then used to simulate the harmonic voltage distribution of the system with different harmonic loads in order to determine whether appropriate harmonic mitigations are necessary. The test results and proposed analysis model can provide electrical engineers useful information in planning or designing harmonic mitigation measures for improving power quality in shipyard electric power systems .
