碩士 === 南華大學 === 旅遊事業管理學系碩士班 === 99 === 　　This study investigated the relationship among serious leisure, social capital, and place attachment and also examined the mediating effect of social capital in the relationship. Unlike previous studies which discussed place attachment mainly from the perspective of human-to-place interactions, this study focused on human-to-human relationships to explore whether social capital really mediates the relationship between serious leisure and place attachment. In other words, this study attempted to find out how much people are affected by "human-to-human" interactions before their "human-to-place" emotional bonding is formed. Results showed: (1) mountain hikers'' serious leisure characteristics have direct and positive effects on their social capital; (2) mountain hikers'' social capital has positive effects on their place attachment; (3) mountain hikers with stronger serious leisure characteristics tend to have stronger place attachment; (4) social capital mediates the relationship between serious leisure and place attachment; that is to say,serious leisure can not only positively and directly affect place attachment but also indirectly affect it through social capital.
