Summary: | 碩士 === 南華大學 === 生死學研究所 === 99 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the shocks, experiences, self-adjustment of the community care volunteers when they facing death event. The information during in-deep interview was used to analyze the experiences of five community care volunteers.
The results of this study demonstrated that: the impact of death to the community care volunteers including (1) the fear of unknown death, (2) the sense of being lost and separating from target client, (3) the fear of death and dying process, (4) the fear of dying with regret and (5) the fear of late for compensation.. The adjustments included positive and negative attitudes for people to cope with the bereavement. People who used the positive way accept the death and adjust the way they lived. However, people who used the negative way usually deny the death.
Research conclusion: The community care volunteers have some kind of important meaning to the community care organization, although they are not the specialists, but they look like a small screw, has been short them, the organization is unable to operate smoothly. If volunteer prepare well for facing death events, but actually they were not. People were under a lot of stress during of first time to face death event. They gave vent to the stress by some physiological reactions and emotions. And the last, it will make the defense mechanism of facing death event. However, the volunteer is Community organizations'' important property, It’s important to provide the life-and-death education, and helping them to build the positive attitude to face death event. At least, Don’t let volunteer face it alone.
Based on the results of this research, suggestions on the practical counseling work and the direction of future research were provided.
