This research is for the purpose of discussing the factors that influence junior high school students’ academic achievements and how much they are interested in school by their academic achievements , the level of interest, and the factors associated with students. Based on results of this research, it makes the conclusion and the recommendations, as a conference material for relevant units and related personnel to study the issue of factors influencing students’ academic achievements and interests. Moreover, it provides proposal for the follow-up study, and hopes to help all the students in need.
In this study, a questionnaire survey which is object for the seventh grade students of a junior high school in New Taipei City was conducted, and the total number of students is 456. To investigate the general learning-related situation of the students in a junior high school, a total of 456 questionnaires were made. Among the results 436 were completed, which means a 95.61% effective rate of completion. And then after the primary data was processed, coded, and registered to be electronic files, we conducted the statistical analysis by SPSS (Statistical Package for Science Windows, SPSS for Windows). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the accumulated rate relations, the t test, ANOVA, and the linear regression separately to compare each variable’s influence on junior high school students’ academic achievements and how much they are interested in going to school, and so on.
The analysis summarized the results as follows: individual factor, family factor, and the learning environment factor have significant influence on junior high school students’ academic achievement. Individual factor has no significant effect on how much the students are interested in school. Both family factor and the learning environment factor have significant influence on students’ level of interest in school. And the Intelligence factor has moderate positive correlation with academic achievement of junior high school students.Father's education background, mother's education background and education level of important supporter in the learning process mostly have low positive correlation with junior high school students’ academic achievement. Interpersonal in school has low positive correlation with junior high school students’ academic achievement. Difference between Interpersonal Relationships in school and outside the school has low negative correlation with junior high school students’ academic achievement. And the junior high school students’ academic achievement has low positive correlation with their level of interest in school. Moreover, this study found that the parents paying more attention to children; teachers and students having a good interaction; classmates treating each other in a friendly way could raise the junior high school students’ level of interest in school.
