Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 應用化學系研究所 === 99 === Plastic waste has been an important problem to be solved. In this study, we used the oxidation method to modify the hydrophilic property of polypropylene (PP) and then mixed with cement to enhance the toughness of concrete. PP was partially oxidized with potassium permanganate and potassium dichromate by controlling reaction time and temperature. Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) was used to explore surface functional groups of PP. The Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were applied to observe the micro-structure of PP films. The contact angle of water droplets on PP film was measured to understand the hydrophilic property of PP film. The FTIR spectrum shown that C = O functional groups (1720 cm-1) produced on PP film treated with potassium permanganate solution and potassium dichromate treated PP film had adsorption at wave number of 1635 cm-1 and 1650 cm-1 (C = C double bond). The AFM observation depicted that the surface roughness of partially oxidized PP film significantly increased. The contact angle also significantly reduced due to the increase of hydrophilic property. Finally, SEM observation showed that partially oxidized PP film bond to calcium silicate hydrate(CSH) more tightly than that of original PP.
