Besides, it also analyzed the difference in the gender, the parental socio-economic status and the parental expectation in education between the only-child’s and the non-only-child’s achievement motivation. The participants in this research were chosen from the elementary school pupils in Chia-yi City by stratified cluster sampling.“Achievement Motivation Sclae for Elementary School Pupils” and “Educational Expectation Scale for Parents” were used to be the research tools. And, the research results from the scales were analyzed respectively by descriptive statistics, t-test, two-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation and stepwise regression. Furthermore, the research conclusions were as follows: 1. There was no difference between the only-child and the non-only-child in achievement motivation. 2. In terms of the different background variables, the difference between the only-child and the non-only child in achievement motivation didn’t exist. 3. The only-child parents’ and the non-only-child parents’ expectations in education had much predictable effect on their children’s achievement motivation. Based on the research results and conclusions, the practical suggestions were provided for parents, teachers and the further academic research. Lin, Shu-Ling 林淑玲 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 87 zh-TW
