However, the contact of distinct regions is strengthened by the technological development. The decrease of regional uniqueness is facilitated by the rapid globalization. Cultural heritages’ value is tangible. They are of value from the point of view of history, art or science. It creates the local identity and converts spaces into places through emotions and symbolism. It also contributes to the place-identity. This research studies the public’s cognition of the value of the cultural heritage, and studies how cultural heritages affect the place-identity. Through the Chiayi City resident’s evaluation of the 17 historic monuments and buildings in Chiayi City and of the place-identity, this research studies the public’s cognition of the cultural heritage from the viewpoints of local identity, conservancy value, and place identification. A total of 245 local resident’s questionnaires were completed. From the results of this research, the residents of Chiayi City consider that cultural heritage has its own identity. Cultural heritage is mainly constructed by the uniqueness, symbolism, and historicity, but lacking functional characteristic. Other results indicate that better identity evaluation and maintenance of cultural heritage also increases the public’s willingness of heritage protection. Besides, the evaluation of cultural heritage identity is not affected by individual attributes. Nevertheless, creating opportunities for people to understand the historical contexts of cultural heritage or visit cultural heritage promotes their evaluation. On the other hand, this study also proves the positive effects of cultural heritage identity to place-identity. Which means that the higher the evaluation of cultural heritage identity gets, the higher place-identity is. With high place-identity, people may join the conservation of cultural heritage in the future. 黃光亮 曾碩文 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW |
