Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 藝術教育研究所 === 99 === In recent years, people have become more conscious of the aesthetic, public spaces, and the natural environment. Along with qualities and the diversification of public art, people have also become more aware of the living environment around Chijin Fishing Port in Kaohsiung. This was the main trading port in the era of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Today it is a popular seaside destination for visitors. From 1993 to 2003, Kaohsiung City constructed a series of marine parks along the western coast of the island including Coast Park, Windmill Park, Nature Ecological Park, a bike-riding area, as well as other scenic areas. There are other public facilities, such as a Seashell Museum, Visitor Center, Lookout Path, wind power generation, and a marine ecology viewpoint as well. With the changing times, Chijin has developed from a desolate fishing village into a modernized tourist port. After the West Coast became a hot tourist attraction, in recent years, the development of Chijin Fishing Port seems to have slowed down. Therefore, making use of questionnaires, observation, interviews, and document analysis, the researcher explores the opinions of the local residents, tourists, and experts and scholars and the officials. The main findings of the research are discussed in two parts as follows: First, a total of 188 surveys responses from the local residents and tourists were collected, and the analysis of the questionnaires and some observations were adoped to help the researcher understand the viewpoints of local tourists and residents, the findings include three parts: (a) Chijin’ diversification to develop leisure tourism; (b) results of the beautification in West Coast and public landscaping settings (c) the future development of opinions and suggestions about Chijin. Second, by interviewing experts and scholars and the officials who are in charge of the Chijin coast to analyse the development plans and beautification project of Chijin, the researcher concluded from the interview data that the beautification project of Chijin’s west coast landscapes will not only improve the living environment of Chijin Fishing Port, it will also promote increased employment opportunities and enhance the sense of belonging of the residents. It will also provide a good place for local people to develop a close relationship between parents and children, and a chance to be close to the sea. This study also shows that in recent years, the sand along the beach on West Coast has been disappearing because of erosion, the sea-viewing terrace and the support columns under the visitor center show corrosion of the exposed steel structures due to water seepage from the cracked walls. Moreover, these negative sights and issues have brought coastal development in Chijin to a standstill. In addition, for the issues if Chijin is suitable for "internationalization" of tourism industry development in the future, the study has also provided professional points of views and comments from the scholars and those in charge.
