Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 教育研究所 === 99 === The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among personality traits, multiple intelligences and the application of MI teaching strategies of 564 junior high school English teachers in Taichung City, Changhua and Nangtou Counties. Questionnaire survey has been utilized as the research method and descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation were applied to analyze the data. The major findings of the study obtained as below: first, the current status of personality traits of English teachers in junior high schools showed a tendency to conscientiousness, agreeableness, and openness to experience, with an obvious tendency to conscientiousness in particular. Second, English teachers had higher intrapersonal and linguistic intelligences. Third, English teachers showed a higher degree on applying linguistic, logical-mathematical and intrapersonal intelligences in teaching strategies. Fourth, there were no significant association between the personality traits and the MI performance of English teachers. Fifth, in terms of the different personality traits, there were significant differences for English teachers to apply linguistic, musical, spatial, interpersonal, and naturalist intelligences in teaching strategies. Final, the personality traits of English teachers show an significant correlatinons with their application of MI teaching strategies. The suggestions of the findings were made for educational administrators, school administrators, junior high school teachers and future researchers.
