Description
Summary:博士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 物理學系 === 99 === This thesis proposes a dual-view liquid crystal display (DVLCD) which can display two different images at two different viewing directions. The pixel of the display is divided into two sub pixels adopting the twisted nematic (TN) structure. The TN structures of the two neighboring sub pixels have different rubbing directions and the intermediate pretilt angle, which is achieved by mixing the horizontal polyimide (PI) and the vertical PI. The obtained results show that the sub pixel provides the display with a high contrast ratio of ~2000:1 at a specific viewing direction. In contrast, the contrast ratio of the cell at the opposite viewing direction has the low contrast ratio of ~1:1 with a dark state. Furthermore, the neighboring sub pixels of the DVLCD can be operated independently. The proposed DVLCD has a low threshold voltage of ~0.6V and a high fabrication error tolerance.
