Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 經濟學研究所 === 99 === This research employs Taiwan''s Manpower Utilization Survey and Labor Inspections data from 1999 to 2009 to investigate the effect of job risk on industry choice. Following the literature review, compensating wage differentials and conditional logit model is adopted. We aim to understand the impact of job risk on industry choice across younger and older cohort. In addition, we decompose the cohort data by gender to analyze the differences between the males and the females. Moreover, we limit the sample to workers in occupations of relatively higher risk in order to discussing the occupation reaction. The main findings of this paper include the following: (1) the reaction of job risk is different between the younger and the older cohorts, although the result deviates if samples in risky occupations are employed; (2) in general, risk attributes have greater impacts on younger cohort, and the gender differences bridge by cohort; (3) disamenity industry attributes, such as higher job risk and violation in labor inspection, decrease the probabilities of entering the Electronic Information industry.
