Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 企業管理碩士學程 === 99 === Economic integration and free trade not only have pros, but cons as well. Numerous scholars have been researching who benefits and who loses -as a result of integration with the outside world. Although strong economic arguments support unrestricted free trade, governments of countries tend to intervene in international trade for economical and political reasons. However many analysts argue that international trade organizations can solve related problems, because they have an impact on international trade and control over the direction of government policies. Analysts state that international trade organizations, such as the World Trade Organization brings positive effects which could significantly help economy growth and particular to development of industries. This thesis will focus on the impact of joining to the WTO on the countries, members of the BRIC, namely Brazil, Russia, India, and China, which is one of today's most influential economic associations. Russia is one of BRIC and largest economies in the world which is not yet a member of the WTO. Russia recognized the importance of being a member of the global world community and attempted to join the WTO as early as 1993. Therefore question of how Russia’s joining to the WTO will shape its economy became one of the main interests of the Russian politicians and economists. This thesis aims to study the impact of global economic integration and the joining of the WTO on Russia’s automotive industry, particularly on the Russian domestic car manufacturers. Moreover this thesis aims to investigate what possible threats for the Russian domestic manufacturers are and how they can overcome them.
