The research method was quantitative research and adopting convenience sampling. The study conducted a questionnaire survey with a response rate up to 86% (275 entries valid). The researcher used descriptive statistics, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation to analyze the data. The results were as following: 1.In Taoyuan-County elementary schools, the majority of special education teachers were female (78.5%), under 39 year-old (43.1%), majoring in special education (64.7%), and the service years between 6-10 years (40.7%). The teachers in resource classroom were more than half (55.3%), and the most often engaging leisure activity was watching mass media (43.6%). 2.Special education teachers in Taoyuan-County elementary schools perceived lower degree on “job stress” (M =2.53), and highest on “specialized-knowledge stress” (M =2.86). In leisure coping strategies, the most adopted was “leisure mood enhancement” (M =4.16). The teachers who perceive higher job stress have lower perception on their health(r =-.45). 3.The results proved the theoretical framework of the leisure, stress and health model: When people perceived high stress, the leisure which they engage could play a buffering role, and effectively maintained their health. Based on the results, the researcher suggest that the government may enhance special education teachers’ participation in maintaining positive mood leisure. The leisure can effectively cope with stress, and maintain their health. For future research, it is suggested that the researchers continue to study leisure coping beliefs.
