This paper uses the image processing method to recognize the doorplate as well as calculates the distance between user and doorplate. The system converts detected message to voice by text to speech technology. The features of the image grabbed by a webcam have been calculated by Hu moment and vertical projection. SVM method is used to obtain the image classification. This system needs only 200ms to process recognition and the recognition rate can reach 90 percent.
