Once it was the staging post when ships crossed the sea between China and Taiwan, and also became the rest place for pirates’ hiding .The special location in geography leads Penghu to create its unique natural environment,history and humane scene.This thesis focuses on the writings about Penghu on the Taiwan Classical Poetry and tries to research what the former literati in the past thought about Penghu. There are six chapters in the thesis. The introductory chapter is to explain the aim of this research ,the sources of the materials and the skeleton in the thesis. The second chapter is to research the development of the writings about Penghu on Taiwan Classical Poetry and generalize the important works and writers from Ching Dynasty to Japanese Colonial Period with a macroscopic outlook. It is the core of the thesis from the third chapter to the fifth chapter. It analyzes the styles and features of the writings about Penghu on Taiwan Classical Poetry in detail in the aspects of the ocean, history and custom , and commentate the main idea of the text with the historical records and chorography. Here is the detailed content in the following. The third chapter named “the ocean and natural environment of the writings about Penghu on the Classical Poetry”divides into three sections , including the writings in the aspects of the ocean , animals , plants , minerals , and the scene on the poetries. It tries to figure out the different features of the writings about the ocean and natural scene of Penghu in different times. The fourth chapter named “the historical writings about Penghu on the Classical Poetry”is to present the history. The author not only emphasizes the research of the historical records but also stresses the backgrounds of the poets more, because their viewpoints in history would have a great effect on their writings. How did the poets describe the same historical event in different viewpoints , and what did the poets in different times think about the same historic monument ? The fifth chapter named “ the custom and society of the writings about Penghu on the Classical Poetry” is arranged behind the discussion of the poetries about the nature , ocean and history , for the humane activities could not get rid of the above factors . Most of all , the specifics in the historical situation and geographic location led Penghu to create its unique and local customs. And the poor soil and harsh climate contributed to the creations of the disaster poetries by poets. Besides the caring for the people and romantic personalities of the poets , the authors tries to find out the other factors which effected the creations of the poets.
